Roberds Lake Night to Unite had representatives of the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offenders Task Force along with members of the Rice County Sheriff's K-9 Unit and Water Patrol.  Each of the 3 departments representatives gave talks and demonstrations to inform those present of their activities and responsibilities.

The Drug Task Force started the evening with discussions and samples of the various drugs being used.  They also had display cases showing common drug paraphernalia used and various household items used to conceal drugs.

Next, three officers from the K-9 Unit talked about the dogs used and the training the dogs received.  This was followed by a demonstration of the how dogs apprehend criminals.  They covered how the role of dogs is being increased throughout law enforcement.

Last, the Water Patrol talked their role in water safety on the local lakes.  Common infractions found on area lakes were discussed.  They emphasized boating safety so all can enjoy our lakes safely.

There were many questions and answers throughout the evening. All those who attended enjoyed the presentations and demonstrations - which was followed by root beer floats for all provided by The Roberds Lake Club.  It was a fun and informative evening with neighbors.
